Shalhoob Meat Company is family owned and operated and has been providing premium quality meat and poultry to the greater Santa Barbara area since 1973.
Shalhoob's president, John Shalhoob , had worked full-time throughout his high school years at the meat cutting plant with his father Jerry.
John took over the family business in 2001 while Jerry continues to maintain a presence as the company moves forward into the new millennium.
Shalhoob Meat Company takes its roots way back in 1950 when young Jerry learned the fine art of making beef jerky from his grandfather right here in Santa Barbara County.
At 20, Jerry became a meat cutter learning the trade at a local grocery store. He opened Shalhoob Meats Co. as a one-man butcher shop. Within a couple of years, Jerry had seven meat cutters supplying the local market with quality meat and poultry products.
In 1977, Jerry moved the operation to the location where the business continues to thrive today. The Shalhoob Meat Co. had become a recognized force in supplying the best restaurants, hotels and institutions with the finest meats and provisions available in Santa Barbara. Along with expanding the meat cutting operation, he and John began making grandpa's Beef Jerky that quickly gained its reputation locally for being the best available.
Today as president, John continues to grow the company to be able to serve an ever-growing market for custom cut premium quality meats and customer service.
Wholesale of meat and poultry to the public is being advertised locally and continues to grow. He is actively promoting distribution and sales of Shalhoob Meats Santa Barbara Style Jerky to markets outside of Santa Barbara . And soon,12 varieties of Shalhoob brand packaged ready-to-eat meat products will enter the retail market place.
